SBU liquidates so-called LNR intelligence network (video)
The SBU exposed the illegal activities of the so-called LNR special intelligence service on the territories controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, particularly, the agents who had planned to blow up an SBU officer and carry out a number of terrorist attacks in Ukraine.
The perpetrator had been recruiting Ukrainians in the frontline area. In 2018, a 27-year-old resident of Sievierodonetsk joined the ranks of the so-called LNR special intelligence services. In autumn, he obtained a passport of the so-called LNR, and a year later - a Russian passport.
At the request of Russian curators, the perpetrator set up an intelligence network, which mostly included close relatives of SBU officers. To recruit agents, he used psychological pressure, threatened with physical violence against relatives and illegal deprivation of property located in the temporarily occupied territory.
On July 29th, the so-called LNR intelligence agent planted a bomb in the official car of an SBU officer in the Luhansk region. The SBU internal security and counterintelligence units identified the perpetrators and thwarted the attack.
The investigation is ongoing to expose and identify other possible agents of the so-called special intelligence services.
