Dnipro region: SSU liquidates bot farm working against vaccination program

SSU Cyber security prevented new efforts of subversive activities against Ukraine. In Dnipro a bot farm, working under the orders of Russian curators, was liquidated. The capacity of the farm is more than 5 thousand bots.

The mass dissemination of fake information among the Ukrainian internet-users was targeted at the discrediting of Ukrainian authorities and failure of national vaccination program.

According to the investigation materials, the coordinator and administrator of the bot farm was a citizen of Dnipro city. Russian patrons provided her with necessary communication devices and software, its settings were made remotely.

Woman allocated hardware and software unit in intentionally rented apartment. With a help of the unit she administrated near 5 thousand profiles on Facebook. These profiles seemed to belong to Ukraine citizens, but in fact they were using fake personal data.

She regularly obtained new information from the patrons, which should be disseminated in the social media. Besides, a woman had to create new fake profiles.

She received the payment via banned electronic payment systems.

Within the criminal proceedings the SSU conducts pretrial investigation. The evidence of the participation of individuals are seized.

The operation was conducted by the SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region under the supervision of the SSU Cybersecurity Department and the Dnipro Region Prosecutor’s Office.
