SSU cracks down cocaine smuggling to EU under guise of candies
SSU cracked down another smuggling of hard drugs through Ukraine to the EU. The SSU detained one of the members of the transnational drug syndicate at Boryspil International Airport.
The perpetrator attempted to smuggle half a kilo of cocaine under the guise of metal cans with candies to the EU. The expertise estimated the seized goods of more than UAH 2 m. (USD 75,000).
Allegedly, the received goods from abroad the perpetrator intended to distribute to his foreign accomplices for the further sale.
The offender is served a notice of suspicion of smuggling of narcotics.
The type of detention is being chosen.
The investigation actions are ongoing to prosecute those involved into illegal activity.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Main Directorate for Fighting Corruption and Organized Crime and the SSU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region jointly with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the State Customs Service of Ukraine the port control unit of Boryspil Airport under the supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor`s Office.
