SSU disrupts gunpowder smuggling channel to Russia: 20 kg of explosive transported on passenger bus
In Luhansk region, the SSU disrupted an attempt to smuggle gunpowder to Russia. The offenders disguised almost 20 kg of explosive as printer toner.
The dangerous substance was transported by a minibus among passengers’ personal belongings.
Acting upon intelligence, the law enforcement detained the vehicle at Milove checkpoint.
Preliminary findings indicate that the bus driver received the ‘luggage’ from the head of the transport company and was tasked to hand it over to the customer at a gas station in Rostov region, Russia.
The investigation into smuggling is underway to establish all circumstances of illegal activity and bring the culprits to justice.
The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operation together with the State Customs Service under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
