SSU dismantles large-scale scheme of embezzlement of humanitarian aid intended for Ukrainian defenders (video)
According to the investigation, the suspects tried to illegally sell over 1,000 bulletproof vests worth over UAH 12 mln (USD 407,000).
This protective equipment was made in Ukraine by a civilian organization and through Cherkasy Military Administration was to be handed over to defence sector.
However, instead of giving the vests to Ukrainian defenders at no charge, the officials tried to sell them through affiliated commercial structures and a supermarket chain.
Due to the SSU’s intervention, part of the batch was seized at one of the retail chains. These items will be handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The SSU is acting to find the rest of the bulletproof vests and establish all the circumstances and individuals involved in the unlawful scheme.
The SSU Cyber Security Department is working on the case together with the State Bureau of Investigations under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
