SSU shuts down new mobilization evasion schemes: official of military medical commission among detained suspects

The SSU has dismantled new mobilization evasion schemes in Lviv, Cherkasy and Sumy regions.

As a result of the operations, organizers of the illicit channels have been detained. For money, they offered men liable for military service to evade the call-up using counterfeit certificates of volunteers or international drivers.

The ‘services’ cost up to USD 7,000 per evader, depending on the region and urgency of the departure.

In Cherkasy:

The law enforcement detained an official of Cherkasy military medical commission.

For bribes, he promised to ‘help’ his ‘clients’ in obtaining volunteer status to freely leave Ukraine, supposedly for transporting humanitarian aid.

In Sumy:

A scheme of men illegally travelling outside Ukraine as ‘drivers of international cargo flights’ has been shut down.

After receiving the payments, the organizers enrolled their ‘clients’ as ‘staff’ of specially created international carrier companies.

The SSU apprehended the suspects on an attempt to transport 8 ‘truck drivers’ with fake documents across the border.

In Lviv region:

The SSU exposed a local criminal who set up a fictitious international transport company and involved three accomplices.

Using the fake company, they tried to arrange for draft evaders to travel abroad supposedly ‘to transport commercial goods’.

The investigations are ongoing.

The organizers of the draft evasion schemes are facing up to 9 years in prison.

The operations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Lviv, Cherkasy and Sumy regions jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
