SSU shuts down new draft evasion schemes: two military enlistment offices heads and military medical commission head detained

The SSU has blocked another 3 mobilization evasion schemes in several regions of Ukraine.

The detained suspects include the head of a military registration and enlistment office, the head of a military medical commission in Kharkiv and a department head of an institute in Zakarpattia.

For money, they offered potential conscripts to evade mobilization and travel to the EU using counterfeit documents.

The cost of such ‘services’ ranged from USD 1,000 to 8,000.

In Kharkiv:

Two chiefs have been exposed: the head of a military enlistment office and the head of a military medical commission.

According to the investigation, the latter entered severe diagnoses in the conscripts’ medical records. Her accomplice, a military commissar, certified with his signature the conclusions on unfitness of their ‘clients’ for military service.

The evaders planned to use the fake documents to illegally cross the border.

The suspect from the military enlistment office has been notified of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 332.3 (facilitation of illegal transportation of persons across Ukraine’s state border, committed for mercenary motives);
  • 366.1 (forgery in office).

The MMC head’s criminal actions are qualified under Article 366.1 of the CCU (forgery in office).

In Transcarpathia:

The law enforcement exposed the head of the social work department of a local institute on selling student ID’s to draft evaders.

Heading the university’s admission committee, the official enrolled his ‘clients’ ‘without competition’ and even without entrance exams.

After joining the institution, the evaders could apply for deferment.

In Cherkasy region:

A resident of Odesa, previously convicted of robbery and banditry, was detained for promising a draft evader counterfeit documents for traveling abroad.

The investigations are underway.

The operations were carried out jointly with the National Police under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
