SSU dismantles russian intelligence network near eastern front

The SSU continues to clear the front-line areas of eastern Ukraine from enemy agents and subversive intelligence groups. The SSU’s counterintelligence operation led to elimination of a russian network that collected intelligence on deployment and movement of Ukrainian Armed Forces in Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and Pokrovskyi district of Donetsk region.

The agents also informed the aggressors about results of enemy missile and bomb strikes, artillery shelling of the region and the extent of destruction of residential buildings and civil infrastructure facilities.

It has been established that one of the ‘liaisons’ of russian agents was a representative of russia’s occupation administration. He is an ‘official’ of the so-called ‘DNR supreme court’, involved in the persecution and illegal imprisonment of Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region.

The network included 6 local residents recruited by russian special services after the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

To gather intelligence, the agents independently conducted surveillance of locations and movement of Ukrainian troops.

They used specially created Internet platforms to transmit coordinates on electronic maps with confirming photos and video footage to invaders.

In addition, the SSU detained a pro-kremlin agitator in Pokrovskyi district, Donetsk region. The ‘campaigner’ spread propaganda publications on the Internet, justifying russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.

He used his own account in russian social networks to spin destructive content.

Currently, all the detained individuals have been notified of suspicion of committing crimes against Ukraine’s state security. The court is to decide on the type of detention

The SSU will continue counter-sabotage activities to locate and bring to justice all individuals assisting the enemy.

Operations to expose russian agents were carried out by the SSU Offices in Donetsk, Luhansk and Ivano-Frankivsk regions under the procedural supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
