SSU shuts down another 4 channels of draft evaders’ escape abroad: owner of private clinic among detained suspects

The SSU has eliminated another four channels of illegal departure abroad of Ukrainian men of conscription age.

Organizers of schemes offered conscripts their assistance in illegal border crossing using counterfeit documents or bypassing checkpoints.

The cost of such ‘services’ ranged from USD 2,000 to 15,000. The amount depended on the region and urgency of departure.

In Dnipro:

a local resident was exposed on counterfeiting certificates of unfitness for military service for health reasons.

In Chernivtsi region:

The SSU documented the unlawful activities of a pastor of a Protestant church. Together with two accomplices, he helped ‘evaders’ escape to Moldova through the ‘green border’.

In Cherkasy region:

A director of a private clinic was served a notice of suspicion. The official groundlessly issued a package of documents to her ‘patients’ certifying that they ‘had serious illnesses’.

These ‘certificates’ were then submitted to the military medical commission.

In Odesa region:

The law enforcement agencies shut down a channel of illegal migration: organizers offered men of call-up age ‘secret’ border crossing routes in Bolhrad district.

Investigations are ongoing in all the uncovered cases to establish all the circumstances of the crimes and bring perpetrators to justice.

The SSU Offices in Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Cherkasy and Chernivtsi regions carried out the operations jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
