SSU shuts down another 7 draft evasion schemes: three officials of military enlistment offices detained

The SSU has blocked another 7 mobilization evasion schemes in several regions of Ukraine.

Over 10 people are involved in organising the illicit channels, including officials of military registration and enlistment offices and military medical commissions.

For money, they ‘helped’ potential recruits evade military service using counterfeit documents on their ‘unsatisfactory’ health condition or by supposedly ‘transporting foreign humanitarian aid’.

The cost of such ‘services’ reached USD 9,000.

In Kyiv:

two suspects were detained on selling the evaders fake certificates of a medical and social expert commission on a disability group.

In Odesa region:

The SSU Military Counterintelligence detained an official of a local military enlistment office ‘red-handed’ on extorting money from conscripts.

In return for USD 5,000, he promised the young men to ‘arrange’ counterfeit medical documents on their unfitness for military service.

He involved his subordinate in the criminal activity, who was supposed to ‘negotiate’ with representatives of the military medical commission about fake medical certificates.

In Ternopil:

Another official of a military enlistment office was apprehended. Together with three accomplices, he was selling fake documents on ‘deregistration’ from the military register.

In Mykolaiv:

The SSU Military Counterintelligence detained an individual who offered a local resident his assistance in evading mobilisation.

In return for USD 8,500, he promised evaders to ‘solve the issue’ of issuing fictitious certificates of exclusion from the ‘lists’ of persons liable for military service.

In Kharkiv region:

Two officials of medical institutions were exposed on ‘issuing’ fake certificates of unfitness for military service and selling them.

In Rivne region:

another channel of illegal migration of potential conscripts was blocked. The scheme was organised by owners of three transportation companies who registered evaders as drivers of international flights.

In Bukovyna:

The SSU Military Counterintelligence exposed and stopped a truck driver who was covertly trying to smuggle 4 locals of conscription age abroad.

Investigations are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the offences and bring perpetrators to justice.

The operations were carried out jointly with the National Police under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
