SSU dismantles another five mobilization evasion schemes, including one set up by district council member from Prykarpattia
The SSU has blocked another five schemes of draft evasion and illegal departure of mobilization-aged men abroad.
The organizers were detained in different regions of Ukraine. The suspects include a current member of a district council and an official of the Judicial Protection Service.
For money, they offered conscripts to evade conscription and organize their escape abroad using counterfeit documents or bypassing checkpoints.
The cost of such ‘services’ reached USD 10,000.
In Prykarpattia region:
The SSU Military Counterintelligence detained ‘red-handed’ a member of Kalush District Council who was selling fake medical certificates of ‘temporary unfitness for service’.
The suspect personally received money for a ready-made package of counterfeits.
He involved his acquaintance, who looked for ‘clients’, talked to them and received part of the payment.
In Kropyvnytskyi:
The SSU and the SBI detained an official of the Judicial Protection Service who offered conscripts his own way of evading conscription.
For bribes, he promised conscripts employment in the judicial agency to obtain a ‘defferal’ of mobilization.
In Lviv region:
Another draft evasion channel was shut down. The head of a local charity fund, who had been registering evaders as drivers of humanitarian transport, organized the scheme.
In Cherkasy:
A representative of a local NGO for protection of public order was detained for selling fake medical certificates of ‘poor’ health.
The evaders submitted the counterfeits to the Military Medical Commission for further ‘de-registration’.
In Khmelnytskyi region:
A local resident was apprehended for smuggling conscripts to a neighboring country outside checkpoints.
He drove the evaders to the border in his own car and then showed them forest trails.
Investigations are ongoing.
The offenders face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operations were conducted jointly with the State Bureau of Investigation and the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
