SSU dismantles another three draft evasion schemes: head of military medical commission and lawyer detained
The SSU blocked three schemes of Ukrainian men evading mobilization amidst the ongoing war.
As a result of operational and investigative activities, five organizers of the schemes were notified of suspicion.
They offered conscripts to avoid mobilization using counterfeit documents and by illegally crossing the border.
The cost of such ‘services’ ranged from USD 3,000 to 6,000. The amount depended on the urgency of the ‘trip’.
The SSU exposed the schemes timely and thus prevented hundreds of ‘evaders’ from escaping mobilization.
In Kyiv:
Two criminal schemes were exposed. The first was organized by the head of the military medical commission in one of the capital’s districts.
For money, he unreasonably issued documents to his ‘clients’ on deregistration for ‘health reasons’.
The offender has been served a notice of suspicion under Article 368.3 of the CCU (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official).
Another scheme was set up by the head of a pseudo-charitable organization, who offered citizens to travel outside Ukraine as drivers of vehicles transporting humanitarian aid.
The SSU exposed his accomplice in December 2022.
In Zakarpattia region:
The law enforcement detained a local lawyer and a hotel owner, who were looking for ‘candidates’ to flee abroad.
The group tried to transport conscripts to the EU states outside checkpoints.
The offenders were served notices of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:
- 114-1.1 (obstruction of lawful activities of the AFU and other military formations);
- 332.3 (illegal transportation of persons across Ukraine’s state border).
The investigations are ongoing.
The SSU carried out the activities jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
