SSU shuts down another three channels of draft evaders’ escape across border
The SSU has blocked another three schemes of illegal transportation of Ukrainian men of call-up age abroad. As a result of special operations in several Ukrainian regions, six organizers of illegal ‘traffic’ have been detained.
For money, they offered potential conscripts to leave Ukraine posing as volunteers.
The cost of such ‘services’ ranged from USD 1,500 to 8,000 per client. The price depended on the area of residence and urgency of departure. ‘Orders’ were accepted only after full prepayment.
In Kyiv, the SSU dismantled a criminal group, which ‘registered’ draft evaders as persons responsible for international humanitarian aid delivery.
To do this, the offenders created a fictitious charitable organization and entered false information into the Shlyakh electronic system.
Another channel of illegal migration was shut down in Zhytomyr region. The organizer is a local businessman who offered ‘a ticket to the EU’ to men of conscription age, who would pose as long-haul drivers.
To conceal his unlawful actions, the dealer worked only with trusted ‘clients’, whom he found through personal connections in the area.
In Chernivtsi, the SSU exposed a criminal group, which tried to take potential conscripts abroad, bypassing checkpoints, through the ‘green border’.
However, due to the SSU’s prompt response, the described criminal schemes were uncovered and their organizers - detained.
Five of the involved individuals have been notified of suspicion of crime under Article 332.3 of the CCU. For two of them, court has already chosen custody as a measure of restraint.
The investigations are ongoing.
The SSU National Statehood Protection Department, the SSU Offices in Kyiv and Kyiv region and in Zhytomyr region carried out the operations jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
