In Zakarpattia, the SSU exposed corruption in a state forestry. The head of government facility extorted money from oil products suppliers.

The man guaranteed entrepreneurs victory in tenders procurement of fuel intended for forestry. The sum of kickback was 10% of the contract price and depended on the amount of fuel purchased.

According to findings, the offenders purchased up to 20 liters of diesel and gasoline each month, and moved out the profit.

Law enforcement detained the man on taking a bribe in Mukachevo.

Within the criminal proceeding, the official received a suspicion notice of taking a bribe. A type of detention is being chosen.

The investigation is ongoing to bring to justice other people involved in the scheme.

SSU operatives are verifying the information about similar corrupt practices in other forestries.

The operation was conducted by the SSU Office in Zakarpattia region jointly with investigators, Territorial Unit of the State Bureau of Investigation, located in Lviv city, and under the supervision of Zakarpattia Region Prosecutor’s Office.
