SSU shuts down three new draft evasion schemes: head of district military recruitment office among detained
The SSU has blocked another three channels of illegal departure of men of military age abroad.
As a result of operations in several regions of Ukraine, the SSU detained organisers of the illegal traffic, including the head of one of the district military enlistment offices.
For money, they offered potential conscripts to evade mobilization and travel to the European Union using counterfeit documents.
The cost of such ‘services’ ranged between USD 5,000 and 12,000, depending on the region, urgency and the client’s ‘wallet’.
In Lviv oblast:
The SSU Military Counterintelligence detained the head of a district military registration and enlistment office who helped draft dodgers to flee abroad as carriers of humanitarian aid for the AFU.
Using his connections, the official entered the men’s personal data into the Shliakh information system as professional drivers on cross-border trips.
In Odesa:
Another scheme was organised by a local resident who sold to draft evaders fake conclusions of the military medical commission on unfitness for service.
The perpetrator had accomplices in the military registration and enlistment office and among the MMC officials.
In Dnipro:
The law enforcement uncovered three members of a criminal group selling fake medical certificates of unfitness for service to draft evaders.
The crime ring used connections in a local military enlistment office to counterfeit the documents.
The investigations are ongoing. The suspects face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operations were conducted jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
