Mykolaiv: SSU prevents selling of weapons of military unit (video)

In Mykolaiv, the SSU detained a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who sold weapons stored in warehouses of a military unit.

According to the investigation, the scam was organized by an officer of the said warehouses. He kept the stolen weapons in a newly built facility near the military unit.

The perpetrator sold the weapons to interested parties, including local criminals.

SSU officers documented that the officer sold 15 F-1 and RGD-5 grenades with fuses and 5 RPG-22 anti-tank grenade launchers.

During the searches of perpetrator's residence and storage facility, the following was found and seized:

  • 40 artillery and mortar shells;
  • 129 PG-7 rounds for rocket propel grenade launchers;
  • almost 600 artillery shells;
  • 216 VOG17 grenade rounds;
  • almost 600 flare rockets;
  • 49 powder charges to mortar shells;
  • 8 bursting charges;
  • smoke and anti-tank grenades;
  • almost 34,000 various caliber rounds;
  • 49 M6 and M12 fuzes.

The perpetrator received a suspicion notice of the unlawful handling of weapons.

The investigative actions are underway to establish and prosecute all individuals involved in stealing of weapons.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Odesa region jointly with the National Police in Odesa region, under the supervision of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Military and Defense Sphere of the Southern Region.
