SSU detains russian agents who adjusted missile strikes on Sloviansk, Bakhmut and Kramatorsk

In the course of counter-sabotage efforts in the front-line areas of the East of Ukraine, the SSU dismantled another russian agent network.

Members of the network carried out reconnaissance of location and routes of movement of Ukrainian Defence Forces in Donetsk region.

The enemy accomplices were primarily interested in information on combat positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, deployment and movement of military equipment near Sloviansk, Bakhmut and Kramatorsk.

To collect intelligence, they carried out covert visual surveillance using equipment for photo and video recording.

The collected information along with geolocation data was passed to russian special services through anonymous Telegram channels.

The aggressor state used the intelligence for massive missile and artillery strikes and preparation of sabotage near the front line.

The agent network included five local residents, recruited by russian special services to carry out reconnaissance and subversive activities.

Occupiers noticed the individuals, whom they further recruited, because of their activity in social networks.

To conceal themselves, the agents acted autonomously and communicated through ‘liaisons’. These turned out to be two members of the terrorist organization DNR, which are part of russian occupation forces on the eastern direction.

During the searches, the SSU found the agents had computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of unlawful activity.

The detainees were notified of suspicion. The court ruled to keep them in custody.

So far, SSU investigators have completed investigation on four suspects and submitted the indictments to court.

The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
