SSU shuts down another 3 schemes of draft evasion: MoD official among detained suspects
The SSU has blocked another three schemes used by Ukrainian citizens to evade mobilization amidst the ongoing war.
As a result of investigations, five organizers of such schemes in several regions of Ukraine have been served suspicion notices.
For money, they offered conscripts to evade mobilization using fake documents or by illegally leaving the country.
The cost of such ‘services’ was up to USD 9,000.
In Kyiv:
The SSU jointly with the SBI detained a deputy chief of a directorate within the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine who organized unlawful issuance of documents to withdraw men from military records.
To make the scheme work, he used his connections in the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers in several regions.
In Zakarpattia region:
The law enforcement exposed two residents of Berehove district. One of the suspects had been previously convicted of smuggling people across the state border.
The offenders planned to transport their ‘clients’ outside the established checkpoints in their own cars.
In Lviv region:
The SSU detained three suspects, who offered ‘draft evaders’ to escape abroad as drivers of international flights.
All the detained individuals have been served notices of suspicion under the Article 332.3 of the CCU (illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine).
The investigation is ongoing.
The SSU Offices of Kyiv and Kyiv region, Lviv and Zakarpattia regions exposed the offenders jointly with the State Bureau of Investigation, the State Border Guard Service, the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
