SBU unveils pro-Russian NGO controlled by People's Deputy of Ukraine

The SBU prevented attempts to destabilize the socio-political situation in the eastern regions of Ukraine. During a special operation in Kharkiv, Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk, SBU blocked the activities of a group involved in committing serious ideological crimes.

The attackers acted under the guise of NGO, controlled by a People's deputy of Ukraine.

Allegedly, the group specialized in committing crimes and provocative actions aimed at the destabilization of the situation in the country.

In March, the group leader jointly with its active members inflicted severe bodily injuries to an ideological opponent with a knife. According to the curators, the perpetrators actions should have led to taking the appropriate measures and caused the aggravation of the political situation and mass violations of the public order.

During investigative actions at the perpetrator’s residence and the NGO office the law enforcement found:

  • cold weapon, which could be used to commit serious crimes;
  • instructions on preparing group members for radical actions against ideological opponents;
  • a large consignment of marijuana and equipment for its cultivation.

Currently, SBU investigators served a suspicion notice to the group's leader. The issue of choosing a type of detention is being settled.

The investigation is ongoing to prosecute persons involved in illegal activities.

The events were carried out by SBU officers under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The SBU continues to work systematically to expose subversive activities against our country.
