FSB agent is served suspicion notice
Following SSU CI investigation, a FSB agent is served a suspicion notice of high treason.
SSU established that the offender was a member of a task force, which in 2016 committed a murder of a Ukrainian special forces officer in Rivne region. The suspect smuggled weapons from Russia to commit a crime.
Another offender was detained in November 2016 while trying to trespass the state boarder of Ukraine. The court found him guilty and sentenced to 12 years in prison.
According to findings, two Ukrainian citizens were recruited by the Russian FSB to conduct subversive activity against Ukraine.
In spring 2016, they came from Russia to gather intelligence related to servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and employees of defense companies.
The agents transferred collected information to their handlers.
Later, the criminals were tasked to commit a murder of a Ukrainian special forces officer.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of the Rivne Region Prosecutor’s Office.
