SBU serves ex-MP from Party of Regions suspicion notice in absentia
The SBU served a suspicion notice in absentia to a former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the Party of Regions of his involvement in the creation of a terrorist organization and actions aimed at overthrowing the constitutional order.
SBU operatives established that the former deputy had supported the annexation of Crimea and Russia’s occupation activity in Donbas since the beginning of the Russian aggression. In January 2015, he went to Russia where he stayed till now.
The employees of the special service found that the terrorist accomplice continues to take an active part in the information war against Ukraine and promotes Russian interests in the southern Ukraine, particularly, in Kherson region. Additionally, he regularly visits temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk region and the AR of Crimea.
The offender is suspected of actions aimed at forceful change or overthrow of the constitutional order or take-over of government, creation of a terrorist organization and Illegal movement of individuals across the Ukrainian state border.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. SBU officers continue to conduct searches to detain and prosecute the suspect.
The operation was carried out by the SBU Office in Kherson region under the legal supervision of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
