SSU hands over weapons worth UAH 1 bln to MoD (video)

The SSU handed over a large consignment of weapons worth UAH 1 bln (USD 38 mln) to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. This armament was seized in the result of special operations of the SSU CI.

The SSU seized these weapons as evidence in relevant proceedings. Given the current situation in Ukraine, the SSU investigators prepared a letter of request. The court and the government authorized the transfer, and the MoD received the items. This is the first landmark decision of this kind in Ukraine’s history.

The SSU previously seized and currently is handing over about 500 tons of armament to the MoD, including:

  • weapons (grenade launchers);
  • ammunition (mines and rounds for grenade launchers);
  • explosives (TNT);
  • 36 5V27D missiles for Pechora ADMS with specialzed equipment;
  • components for firearms;
  • aircraft engines and components for Mi-24 helicopters, SU and MIG aircraft;
  • components for armored vehicles (BMP, BRDM, BTR armored vehicles, tanks), anti-aircraft missile systems and multiple rocket launchers;
  • phosphoric and hydrochloric acids.

Russian state companies have used the territory of Ukraine for transit of military goods. Moreover, for an unspecified purpose they accumulated these munitions on our territory, not as military property, but as technical property for general use. No documents on the legality of import and storage were provided.  In connection with this, the SSU initiated criminal proceedings.

The weapons and equipment handed over to the MoD will significantly strengthen logistics and combat readiness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
