SBU checks aviation security situation at domestic airports

The SBU conducted a comprehensive check-up to prevent terrorist threats at critical infrastructure facilities of airports. As a result of the check-ups, eight officials were brought to justice, the airport are obliged to pay fines to the state budget.

The SBU jointly with the State Aviation Administration conducted large-scale situational operations at Boryspil International Airport, as well as at Kharkiv and Zaporizzhia airports. The operations were conducted in near-to-life conditions.

In particular, to find the weak spot of aviation security, conditional "offenders" imitated using of "weapons".

The security lapses identified during the check-ups were worked out on the spot, and the airport staff received comprehensive recommendations. As a result of the check-ups, a department head of an airport was fired, and seven officials were brought to administrative responsibility.

The operation organizers provided their participants with recommendations on improving the algorithm of actions to prevent terrorist and sabotage threats at critical infrastructure facilities in the area of air services.

The operation was conducted by the SBU Main Directorate for Economic Counter-Intelligence Protection of State's Interests jointly with the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine.
