SBU prevents large-scale cocaine smuggling from South America
In Odesa city, the SBU prevented smuggling of a batch of cocaine from South America. The value of the seized narcotics is almost USD 4 million at black market prices.
The operatives received information that the drug dealers planned to import cocaine on the ship that arrived at Odesa Sea Port, and it is hidden among the cargo of bananas.
During the customs inspection of the container, the law enforcement officers found 20 kilos of cocaine.
The investigators initiated criminal proceedings upon the fact of smuggling of narcotics, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors.
The investigation is ongoing to identify and prosecute all those involved in the scheme. The involvement of law enforcement officers is being checked.
The operation was conducted jointly with the State Border Guard Service and State Customs Service under the supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor's Office.
