In Odesa, the SBU prevented smuggling of a large cocaine consignment from South America. Tat he value of the seized drugs is almost USD 10 million.

SBU operatives established that the illegal cargo arrived at Pivdennyi Commercial Sea Port in a container with fruits. During customs inspection of the container, the law enforcement found over 50 kilos of cocaine, packaged in 1 kg briquettes.

Criminal proceedings were initiated for smuggling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors.

The investigation is ongoing to identify and prosecute all those involved in the drug trade. The possible involvement of law enforcement officers in cocaine smuggling is being checked. 

The operation was conducted jointly with the State Border and Customs Services under the procedural supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor's Office.
