SBU prevents supply of extremist literature to neighboring state
The SBU prevented the supply of extremist literature to a post-Soviet country.
The SBU officers established that certain persons ordered the "Brenton Tarrant’s Manifesto", which promotes ethnic and cultural genocide, calls for terrorist attacks and mass murders. The banned books were printed in several languages in underground printing houses in Kyiv region. The “client” appeared to be a former law enforcement officer of a neighboring state of Ukraine.
During November, the man ordered three batches of books and transferred the advance payment to a bank card. He also paid for delivery by a postal service.
Within the criminal proceedings initiated upon public incitement to commit a terrorist act, the SBU officers conducted searches of the suspect’s residence and underground “printing house” and seized mobile phones, computer equipment proving the fact of printing banned literature, samples of these books and printing equipment.
To block the export of the literature abroad, the SBU officers seized a batch of printed materials, prepared for sending to the customer, from an office of the postal service in Kyiv region.
The supply of extremist literature from Ukraine could have led to discrediting of Ukraine on the world stage. The propagandist media could have accused Ukraine of inciting protests on the territory of foreign states. The SBU is checking the possible involvement of the special services of neighboring countries in organizing the supply of books for a purposeful provocation against Ukraine.
The issue of bringing to justice two Ukrainian citizens involved in the production of banned literature is being settled.
The special operation was conducted by the SBU Main Directorate in Kyiv city and Kyiv region under the supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
