In Volyn region, SBU prevented attempted smuggling of cigarettes into the European Union via Ukraine.

SBU officers found out that offenders planned to smuggle cigarettes into the EU though the Ukrainian Polissia customs. The law enforcement stopped a truck with smuggled goods at a checkpoint. The search discovered almost 700 containers with foreign cigarettes. According to the declaration and accompanying documents, the vehicle was carrying food products.

The seized contraband cigarettes had an estimated value of USD 350,000. 

The operation was conducted jointly with officers of the Lutsk Border Guard Detachment and Polissia Customs.
