Odesa city: SBU prevents large-scale election fraud

The Security Service of Ukraine found forged election documents which could have been used to falsify votes in the second round of mayoral elections in Odesa city.

SBU operatives conducted searches of an office used as “public reception” of the politician and discovered hundreds of ballot papers, identical in form and content to the original election ballots.

Currently, investigation is ongoing to identify and prosecute all persons involved in the attempt of election fraud.

Documentation of illegal activities in the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated upon the fact of forgery of election documents, referendum documents or falsification of election returns is carried out by the SBU jointly with the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region under the supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor's Office.
