SSU warns about phishing emails supposedly ‘from the SSU’ and advises against downloading malicious files

The Security Service of Ukraine has detected phishing emails sent supposedly on the SSU’s behalf.

The mailing is mainly targeted at the state authorities. At first glance, these emails seem plausible, but they actually have nothing to do with the SSU.

They also contain malicious files and attachments that, when launched, download malware onto the user’s computer to collect confidential data.

If you receive such emails, do not click on the links and do not download files and applications. If this happens, reinstall your computer’s operating system and report the incident to the SSU by phone: 0 800 501 482 or by email: callcenter@ssu.gov.ua.

Such fake mailings can be used by russian intelligence services for espionage and intelligence collection.

The SSU Cybersecurity Department cautions: do not open files in emails or in messenger apps from unknown senders.
