SSU reinforces internal anti-corruption policy
The SSU Main Internal Security Directorate is reinforcing anti-corruption activities within the Service. The initiative is aimed at increasing staff awareness and skills in counteraction to corruption.
The SSU Academy hosted a workshop with the participation of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP). It was the first all-Ukrainian large-scale workshop conducted by NACP for the SSU.
‘Both the leadership and the SSU units place special emphasis on combating corruption,’ remarked the representative of the SSU Internal Security Directorate.
The event brought together NACP experts and over 70 employees from SSU regional offices, representing HR, legal support and internal security units.
‘Our transparency and openness will increase public trust to the Ukrainian special service,’ emphasized Rector of the SSU National Academy Andrii Cherniak, welcoming the participants.
The following issues were on the agenda:
- organization of prevention and detection of corruption;
- prevention and resolving of conflicts of interest;
- particularities of income reporting by the SSU officials.
The experts discussed how to analyze circumstances, identify potential conflicts of interest and corruption risks. Typical mistakes related to application of anti-corruption legislation were also part of the debate.
The SSU officers received recommendations on the interpretation of provisions of the Law On Prevention of Corruption, in particular, related to preventing and resolving of conflicts of interest, anti-corruption restrictions and financial controls.
