SSU serves suspicion notice to businessman-collaborator from Mariupol who helped ruscists demolish residents’ houses
The SSU is systemically documenting crimes of collaborators in the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine.
As a result of an investigation, the SSU exposed Volodymyr Potapov, the son-in-law of former member of the party of regions, director of Ilyich Iron and Steel Works Volodymyr Boyko, on collaborating with the enemy.
Before russia’s full-scale invasion, Potapov co-owned a ‘family’ construction business in Ukraine’s Azov region.
After Mariupol was captured, he was one of the first to support russian invaders and offer his assistance in the war against Ukraine. In return, Potapov hoped to receive ‘permission’ to do business in the temporarily occupied city.
The ‘businessman’ also decided to make money on the construction of russian facilities in the areas where ruscists killed thousands of Mariupol’s civilians.
To do this, he found the ‘right’ contacts among russian contractors close to the kremlin, who then won a ‘tender’ for construction in Mariupol.
In fact, the entire ‘reconstruction’ consisted of russian developers, together with Potapov’s company, massively demolishing homes of local population.
Tens of thousands of Mariupol residents were left homeless - the ‘contractors’ did not build new houses for them, and the money received from the russian budget was ‘siphoned off’ and divided by the involved dealers.
In addition, Potapov personally requested terrorist Pushilin to ‘re-register’ his company and several real estate objects according to the fake ‘legislation of the DNR’. The real estate includes a hotel, a recreation center, shopping and office centers, ‘registered’ to the collaborator’s family.
Based on the collected evidence, the SSU has served Potapov a notice of suspicion under Article 111.4 of the CCU (collaboration).
The suspect is in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk oblast. Efforts to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine are underway.
The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
