SSU declares former MP suspect: paid by FSB, he denied Ukraine’s existence on Skabeyeva’s talk shows
The SSU has collected evidence of high treason committed by a former member of parliament Serhii Polishchuk, who is hiding abroad.
Before russia’s full-scale invasion, he regularly visited moscow to participate in the broadcasts of russian propagandist Olga Skabeyeva.
During his appearances on her 60 Minutes talk show, the former people’s deputy supported the kremlin’s aggressive policy, publicly denied the existence of Ukrainian statehood and spread false hostile narratives about an ideological confrontation between Ukrainians.
The SSU has identified that for these actions Polishchuk had received financial rewards from the aggressor state.
To disguise the ‘transactions’, his ‘interlocutors’ in russia made payments through financial institutions in third states.
According to the investigation, the former parliamentarian coordinated his subversive activity with the FSB, which paid him for participating in russian TV projects.
Based on the evidence collected, Polishchuk has been notified of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:
- 111.1 (high treason);
- 161.1 (violation of equality of citizens based on their race, nationality, regional affiliation, religious beliefs, disability and other grounds).
These crimes are punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
The suspect is hiding abroad; comprehensive efforts are underway to bring him to justice.
The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
