SSU serves suspicion notice to ex-Deputy Minister of Social Policy: his actions led to UAH 24 mln loss for Ukraine’s budget

The Security Service of Ukraine has served a notice of suspicion to the former Deputy Minister of Social Policy who caused losses to the state budget of Ukraine amounting to over UAH 24 million (USD 563,500).

According to the investigation, during the full-scale war this official entered into an unauthorized agreement with a commercial enterprise to purchase computers for the central office of the Ministry.

The agreement was signed by the then Deputy Minister in violation of the law, as it did not meet the purposes and objectives of the World Bank cooperation project under which the computer equipment was to be purchased and was not agreed with the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

The forensic economic examination conducted as part of the investigation confirmed that the state budget of Ukraine suffered losses of over UAH 24 million.

Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators served the former Deputy Minister a notice of suspicion under Article 367.2 of the CCU (official negligence).

The crime is punishable by two to five years in prison with disqualification to hold certain positions.

The measures were carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
