SSU declares russian chief jailer suspect for creating network of concentration camps in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied regions

The SSU has collected evidence against russian colonel-general Arkadiy Gostev, director of russia’s federal penitentiary service, who is involved in the aggressive war against Ukraine.

On the kremlin’s instructions, he created a network of russian prisons in the temporarily occupied part of our country under the guise of ‘correctional’ and ‘medical correctional’ institutions.

mocow’s decision to establish the prisons was enshrined in Order No 97-r, signed by the head of the russian government, Mikhail Mishustin.

According to the investigation, the prison facilities created by the aggressor are used by ruscists as ‘concentration camps’ and torture chambers, where residents of the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine are imprisoned.

In these jails, people are subjected to brutal torture, including with the use of electric shockers and mock executions.

Gostev is responsible for appointing chiefs of occupation prisons and determining ‘regime’ of their activity as part of russia’s occupying authorities.

In this way, he is personally organizing and controlling his subordinates’ participation in punitive measures against members of the resistance movement in the temporarily occupied parts of Ukraine.

Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators have notified Gostev of suspicion under Article 109.1 of the CCU (actions aimed at forceful change or overthrow of constitutional order or seizure of state power).

As the suspect is in russia, comprehensive efforts are underway to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine. The enemy will be punished!

The investigation was conducted under the procedural supervision of Kherson Region Prosecutor’s Office.
