SSU declares UOC-MP cleric suspect for glorifying ruscists on united russia party’s Telegram channel

The SSU has documented subversive activities of another rector of a church in Kharkiv oblast belonging to moscow patriarchate’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

During the temporary occupation, he supported russian invaders and urged local population to do so.

However, when Ukraine began its counteroffensive in Kharkiv oblast, the cleric, having taken the property of the religious community, fled with the russian troops.

He and his family settled in the aggressor state.

There, the man recorded a video in which he called russia’s aggression against Ukraine ‘the war of the entire world against the russian world’.

The pro-kremlin united russia party was one of the first to post this footage on its Telegram channel.

Subsequently, the priest’s ‘speech’ was picked up by numerous other russian propaganda media outlets, including russia’s major TV channels.

The SSU-initiated examination confirmed the fact of suspect’s unlawful activity.

Based on the collected evidence, the SSU notified the UOC-MP clergyman of suspicion under Article 436-2.2 of the CCU (justification of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine using mass media).

The suspect is hiding from justice in russia; efforts to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine are underway.

The SSU Office in Kharkiv region is investigating the proceeding under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
