SSU serves suspicion notice to collaborator who forms ‘russian battalion’ from Kherson region residents

The SSU has collected evidence against another collaborator who is helping ruscists in the temporarily occupied part of southern Ukraine.

The suspect is a former high-ranking official from Odesa oblast, Oleksandr Korotayev. Previously, he was the deputy chief of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency in Odesa region.

After the start of the full-scale invasion, the man moved to the temporarily occupied Kherson region.

There, he joined the local occupation administration and, on behalf of gauleiter Saldo, was forming a new battalion for the invaders.

The enemy tried to forcibly ‘mobilize’ a maximum number of locals to this group.

Korotayev personally urged citizens to join the invaders and fight against Ukraine.

In his public speeches, the enemy accomplice justified russia’s armed aggression, the temporary seizure of Crimea and ruscists’ war crimes.

Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified him of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 111-1.7 (voluntary participation of a citizen of Ukraine in unlawful armed or paramilitary groups created in the temporarily occupied territory);
  • 436-2.1 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The suspect is hiding in the temporarily occupied territory in southern Ukraine.

The SSU is acting to bring him to justice for crimes against our state.

The SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
