SSU serves suspicion notice to former ‘LNR deputy minister of energy’ who ‘handed over’ Luhansk coal industry to occupiers

The SSU has collected substantiated evidence on another enemy accomplice involved in financing russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.

The offender is a former representative of the russian occupation administration in the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk region, who was appointed ‘deputy minister of fuel, energy and coal industry of the LNR’ in 2016.

In this ‘position’, he fulfilled moscow’s tasks of reorganizing the fuel and energy complex to meet the needs of the aggressor state.

First of all, the ‘official’ was engaged in establishing uninterrupted supply of Ukrainian coal to russia.

The investigation established that from September 2015 to February 2016, on his instructions, 230 thousand tons of coal worth over UAH 200 mln (about USD 4.9 mln) had been illegally exported to Rostov region, russia.

For this purpose, a specialized commercial entity was created in russia, through which raw materials were delivered and financial transactions in russian currency were carried out.

The terrorist leaders used the money to finance and logistically support militant groups in eastern Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the offender joined the terrorist organization ‘LNR’ in 2014.

There, he was a member of terrorist Plotnytskyi’s inner circle and helped militants capture one of the largest coal giants in Luhansk region.

After that, the enemy accomplice was appointed the head of this enterprise and later joined the leadership of the russian-controlled ‘ministry of energy’.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators notified the offender of suspicion under the Articles 28.3, 258-3.1 of the CCU (supporting activities of a terrorist organization).

The terrorist accomplice is currently hiding from justice in the temporarily occupied part of eastern Ukraine.

The SSU is acting to hold him to account for crimes against Ukraine.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Main Investigation Directorate with the operational support of the SSU Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Support of Critical Infrastructure and Countering Terrorism Financing under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
