SSU serves suspicion notice to Metropolitan of Sviatohirsk Lavra, who informed ruscists about AFU positions in Donetsk region

The SSU has documented subversive activities of Metropolitan Arsenii, the abbot of the Sviatohirsk Lavra of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the moscow Patriarchate.

According to the investigation, the cleric informed the occupiers about the location of the checkpoints of the Defense Forces in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region during his liturgy.

The vicar recorded the addresses of the Ukrainian military checkpoints for the parishioners. Later, this video was posted on the lavra's website and in a local Telegram group.

In this way, the cleric tried to “leak” to the aggressor the locations of Ukrainian checkpoints in the frontline area.

According to the investigation, the Metropolitan expressed pro-kremlin narratives about the war in Ukraine even before the start of russia's full-scale invasion.

This is evidenced by repeated vicar’s interviews, in which he referred to russia's armed aggression as a “civil conflict.”

Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators served the Metropolitan a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (dissemination of information about the movement, movement or location of the Armed Forces, if it is possible to identify them on the ground).

A measure of restraint is currently being decided.

The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The offender faces up to 8 years in prison.

The operation was conducted by SSU officers in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Region Prosecutor's Office.
