SSU serves a notice of suspicion to one of kremlin's main propagandists in temporarily occupied Donetsk
The SSU collected evidence against the collaborator Mykola Cherkashyn, the head of the so-called "dnr media holding".
In this "position", he replaced the traitor Roman Besedin, who headed the occupation information resource until July 2023 and was suspected in absentia by SSU investigators.
Since then, Cherkashyn has been running one of the kremlin's key mouthpieces in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region.
The hostile "media holding" includes 24 online and print media outlets, 9 TV channels and 6 radio stations.
All of them, on the instructions of the collaborator, publicly justify the aggressive war against Ukraine and the war crimes of the Nazis.
Cherkashyn's controlled media outlets are also actively spreading fakes about the operational situation on the frontline and near the frontline of Ukraine.
For this purpose, the collaborator engaged dozens of "military officers", whom he selected from among local supporters of the kremlin regime.
In addition, Cherkashyn engages subordinate propagandists to "help" central russian TV channels to prepare paid-for stories, in particular from the eastern front.
According to the investigation, Cherkashyn previously worked in various media projects in the region. After the seizure of the regional centre, he supported the kremlin-controlled dnr terrorists.
Subsequently, the defendant joined the circle of trustees of gauleiter Pushylin, who then personally facilitated his appointment as the "CEO" of the occupation "media holding".
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators served Cherkashyn a notice of suspicion in absentia under Part 6 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (conducting information activities in cooperation with the aggressor state and/or its occupation administration).
As the offender is located in the temporarily occupied part of the territory of Ukraine, comprehensive measures are being taken to bring him to justice.
The investigation was conducted under the supervision of the Donetsk Region Prosecutor's Office.
