SSU serves suspicion notice to occupation ‘DNR minister of communications’ who helps FSB wiretap Donetsk residents
The SSU has collected irrefutable evidence of guilt of another two heads of occupation authorities in the temporarily captured part of Donetsk oblast.
According to the SSU cyber units, one of the suspects is the head of the ‘ministry of communications of the DNR’ established by the aggressor.
In this ‘position’, he is fulfilling moscow’s instructions to reorganize the local telecommunications according to russian ‘standards’.
For this purpose, the ‘official’ organized the launch of the FSB-controlled mobile network ‘Phoenix’ on the basis of the seized equipment of Ukrainian communications operators in the occupied areas of the region.
Further, he assisted the invaders in a forced ‘transfer’ of local population to the russian telephone network.
In this way, the russian special service gained access to the subscribers’ personal data and information on their content.
The FSB also uses the controlled telephone operator to send messages to users with disinformation on the situation at the front and the internal political situation in the region.
Another suspect is the ‘deputy director’ of the so-called ‘DNR unitary enterprise of the Phoenix telecommunications operator’.
This ‘official’ helped the FSB to gain full technological access to the company’s telecommunications equipment.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators notified both offenders of suspicion under the Article 258-3.1 of the CCU of Ukraine (creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization).
The suspects are in the temporarily occupied territory of eastern Ukraine. Comprehensive measures to bring them to justice are underway.
The SSU conducted the investigation under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
