SSU serves suspicion notice to occupation head of Zaporizhzhia NPP
The SSU is making every effort to bring to justice traitors who are aiding the enemy in the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine.
As a result of an investigation, the SSU served a notice of suspicion to the current ‘head’ of Zaporizhzhia NPP Yurii Chernichuk, who had held the position of a deputy chief engineer before the temporary occupation of the area.
Chernichuk voluntarily collaborated with the enemy and offered his assistance in the war against Ukraine.
After the seizure of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, Chernichuk agreed to head the fake ‘NPP operating organization’ created on its basis and actually subordinated to Rosatom.
In this ‘position’, he is forcing Ukrainian nuclear engineers to sign contracts with the pseudo-organization and is facilitating the connection of the plant to russia’s power grid.
When Chernichuk was a ‘guest’ on russian propaganda TV channels, he denied the facts of russian strikes on the Ukrainian power plant.
The SSU also documented the unlawful activity of a russian blogger, Artem Lebedev, who illegally entered the territory of Zaporizhzhia NPP in June 2022.
There, he filmed a paid report for kremlin media resources on the seizure of the power facility and ‘disseminated’ it through his half-million audience on social media.
The SSU also exposed the former deputy chief of the departmental paramilitary security unit at Zaporizhzhia NPP on collaborating with the enemy.
This person is involved in handing over material assets of the unit to the occupiers.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators notified the identified offenders of suspicion under the Articles of the CCU:
- the fake head of the NPP ˗ Article 111-2.1 (aiding the aggressor state);
- the blogger - Article 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants);
- the former deputy chief of the departmental paramilitary security unit ˗ Articles 111-2.1 and 436-2.3.
The criminals are currently in the temporarily occupied of Ukraine. Comprehensive measures are taken to bring them to justice.
The SSU emphasizes the inevitability of punishment for cooperation with the enemy.
The SSU carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
