Sloviansk: SSU detains russian agent who collected intelligence for enemy and sought to join occupation forces

In the course of counter-sabotage efforts in Donetsk oblast, the SSU detained another enemy accomplice.

The offender is a resident of Sloviansk, who last autumn voluntarily started working for russian intelligence.

The man collaborated with the aggressor for ideological reasons. Moreover, having demonstrated his ‘usefulness’ to the ruscists, he planned to join the terrorist organization ‘DNR’.

The spy was actively helping russian troops to reconnoiter location and movement routes of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

The agent also passed to the enemy intelligence on locations of civilian and critical infrastructure near the front line.

The occupiers used this information to launch massive missile and artillery strikes and prepare sabotage.

To collect intelligence, the traitor conducted covert visual surveillance of the targets using photo and video recording equipment.

The collected data were sent to russian handlers through previously arranged electronic communication channels.

During the search at the suspect’s home, the SSU found a mobile phone with evidence of his communication with the enemy and his draft application to be accepted to the occupiers’ ranks.

The detainee was served a notice of suspicion. The court chose custody as a measure of restraint.

The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions is carrying out the pre-trial investigation under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
