SSU serves suspicion notice to Medvedchuk’s ‘political analyst’ hiding in Crimea

The SSU has collected evidence against the pro-kremlin ‘political analyst’ Oleksandr Lazarev, who is helping the aggressor in the war against Ukraine.

Even before the full-scale invasion, the suspect was a member of a pool of public pseudo-experts working for Medvedchuk, Murayev and Shariy.

Lazarev himself was directly involved in ‘promotion’ of media identities of the kremlin’s henchmen and helped them spin enemy narratives in the information domain.

To do this, he often was a ‘guest’ on air of the sanctioned channels Nash, Zik, NewsOne, 112, and russia today.

In his comments, Lazarev repeatedly justified moscow’s aggressive policy and called the fighting in eastern Ukraine a ‘civil war.’

However, after 24 February 2022, Lazarev secretly crossed the border.

Later, he arrived in the occupied Crimea and joined Aksyonov’s inner circle, helping him to conduct pro-russian information campaigns on the peninsula.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators notified Lazarev of suspicion under Articles of the CCU: 111.1 (high treason) and 161.1 (violation of equality of citizens based on their race, nationality, region, religious beliefs, disability and other grounds).

Comprehensive measures are underway to hold the offender to account.

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
