SSU investigates russian propagandist Simonyan who called to kill Ukrainian children

The SSU has documented new crimes by the russian propagandist Margarita Simonyan, who has called for the genocide of Ukrainians.

She is the head of the kremlin’s international mouthpiece, RT TV channel, and is a member of putin’s media pool.

Simonyan supports russia’s full-scale invasion and the war crimes of the russian occupiers.

The SSU has documented new crimes, including her public calls for a mass murder of Ukrainian children in December 2023.

The russian propagandist has also repeatedly campaigned for further missile and bomb attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.

She is disseminating kremlin narratives in her posts in Telegram and on russian TV channels, e.g. during Vladimir Solovyev’s talk show, who is also an enemy propagandist.

Based on the evidence collected, the SSU has notified Simonyan of new suspicion under four Articles of the CCU:

  • 442.2 (genocide);
  • 110.2 (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability);
  • 436 (propaganda of war);
  • 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The criminal is in the aggressor state; efforts are underway to bring her to justice.

Earlier, in March 2023, the SSU declared Simonyan suspect for encroachment on territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.

The SSU carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
