SSU serves notice of suspicion to Roman Catholic priest who denied ruscists’ crimes in Bucha
The SSU has collected evidence proving the guilt of the parish priest of Kyiv-Zhytomyr Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in anti-Ukrainian activities.
He publicly justified russia’s armed aggression and denied war crimes of russian invaders against Ukrainians.
In his ‘speeches’ to the faithful, the priest said that the numerous facts of murders and torture of people by ruscists in Bucha were staged.
The cleric also urged not to trust the official information of Ukrainian state institutions and the media about the war crimes committed by the aggressor.
On the contrary, he agitated to listen only to him because, according to him, he was in Kyiv region during the temporary occupation.
The priest has been served a notice of suspicion under the Article 436-2.1 of the CCU (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The pre-trial investigation is completed. The indictment has been sent to court.
We emphasize that in its activity the SSU adheres to the principle of impartiality to any religious denomination and respects the right of every citizen to freedom of worldview and religion, as defined by the Constitution of Ukraine.
The SSU Office in Zhytomyr region exposed the offender under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
