SSU serves suspicion notices to another 8 militants who stormed Ukrainian positions near Bakhmut and Lysychansk
The SSU has collected evidence against another 8 members of the terrorist organizations ‘L/DNR’ who fought against Ukraine.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the militants joined the 1st and 2nd army corps of russia’s Southern military district.
In the occupiers’ units, they actively participated in warfare against the Defence Forces on the eastern front.
However, they were later captured by Ukrainian defenders during combat near Bakhmut and Lysychansk.
One of the suspects is a resident of Alchevsk, Luhansk region, who joined the terrorists in eastern Ukraine in 2016. During this period, he ‘rose’ from a rifleman to a T-72 tank gunner.
Two more militants have fought against the ATO forces. One of them was a member of the ‘Vostok’ militant group, and the other was a member of a unit of the general staff of russia’s armed forces ‘Storm’.
After February 24, 2022, they held russian combat positions near Soledar, Popasna and Lysychansk.
Another suspect is a 27-year-old resident of Luhansk who joined the aggressor-controlled ‘military commandant’s office of the LNR’ in December last year.
As a rifleman, he guarded the buildings of russia’s investigative committee and other occupation authorities in the city.
Due to the enemy’s heavy losses, the guard’s unit was sent to the front line, where he soon was captured by Ukrainian troops.
Another 4 militants, members of the occupation groups ‘Prizrak’ and ‘Cascade’, will also be brought to court.
The captives have been notified of suspicion under 5 Articles of the CCU:
- 111 (high treason);
- 110 (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability);
- 111-1 (collaboration);
- 258-3 (participation in a terrorist organization);
- 260 (participation in unlawful armed groups).
The suspects are in custody, facing up to 15 years in prison.
The investigations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Poltava, Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
