SSU serves notice of suspicion to Lavra priest who glorified ‘russian world’ during worship
The SSU served a notice of suspicion to the organizers of the service, during which the ‘russian world’ was praised in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
The pre-trial investigation established the fact of unlawful actions of one of the clergymen and his accomplices who participated in that service. This has been confirmed by relevant expert examinations.
These persons are suspected of committing an offence under the Articles 28.2 and 436-2.1 of the CCU (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants, committed by a group).
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the SSU under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
Earlier, immediately after the incident in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the SSU Acting Head Vasyl Maliuk stated that proper response to this would follow.
‘Those who, amidst the full-scale war unleashed by russia against Ukraine, are waiting for the ‘awakening of mother Rus’, should understand that this harms the security and interests of Ukraine and our citizens. And we will not let such manifestations happen,’ the SSU Acting Head emphasized.
