Tsaryov and another 2 collaborators who tried to ‘reach Kyiv’ with russian troops declared suspects

The SSU has collected irrefutable evidence that another 3 collaborators voluntarily cooperated with the enemy.

These are: former MPs from the party of regions Oleh Tsaryov and Volodymyr Oliynyk, as well as the so-called ‘DNR minister of foreign affairs’ Natalia Nikonorova. They are known for their Ukrainophobic and separatist views, and since the start of russia’s aggression in 2014, they have been hiding from Ukrainian justice.

The pre-trial investigation established that on February 24, 2022, the traitors illegally crossed the state border of Ukraine outside the checkpoints and arrived in the territory of Kyiv region temporarily occupied by russian army to help establish an occupation regime.

For example, in the temporarily occupied village of Katyuzhanka, Vyshgorod district, these traitors recorded interviews for russian media, in which they:

  • called the Ukrainian authorities ‘nazis’ and presented manipulative ‘facts’ justifying russia’s invasion;
  • promoted ideas of ‘russian world’ and spoke about russian soldiers as ‘liberators from nazism’.

The investigation also established that these suspects, accompanied by russian armed servicemen, burst into a church during the service and tried to convince the villagers to defect to the enemy. They urged to recognize the occupiers’ authorities and actions of russian army as legitimate.

The collaborators repeatedly came to Katyuzhanka secondary school, where the invaders tortured Ukrainians captives, while the facility itself was turned into a firing position.

So far, SSU investigators have notified the traitors, in absentia, of suspicion under two articles of the CCU:

  • 111.2 (treason committed under martial law);
  • 332-2.1 (illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine with the purpose of harming state interests or by a person who is banned from entry to Ukraine, or by representatives of units of armed forces or other security agencies of aggressor state in any way outside checkpoints).

The SSU Department for National Statehood Protection and the SSU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region are carrying out the investigation under the procedural supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
