SSU notifies FSB employee of suspicion of espionage: his agent network conducted pre-war reconnaissance in Kherson region

The SSU notified Vitaliy Korol, serving employee of the FSB’s 5th service, of suspicion. Before the war, he created an extensive agent network of local law enforcement officers in Kherson region to collect intelligence.

In July 2021, the SSU exposed this network and detained its members. Among them was an employee of the SSU’s regional directorate.

As a result of a pre-trial investigation, the SSU identified and documented the crimes of the moscow ‘supervisor’ of this network.

Members of the network collected secret information on mobilization deployment of Ukrainian special forces and algorithms of their counter-sabotage actions, in particular in Kherson seaport, results of tactical and command and staff exercises.

The agents also ‘reported’ about social and political situation in the Black Sea regions of Ukraine.

The collected information with Secret and Top Secret classification degrees was sent to their handler in russia through a secure encrypted electronic channel.

According to available information, the exposed FSB officer is now participating in the full-scale aggression against our state.

The law enforcement agencies are acting to locate and bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine.

The SSU Main Investigative Directorate and Counterintelligence Department have been working on the case under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
