SSU serves suspicion notices to all russian senators who supported ‘accession’ of Ukraine’s temporarily occupied regions to russia
The SSU and the Prosecutor General’s Office have collected evidence on 170 senators of the federation council of russia’s federal assembly who facilitated temporary occupation of parts of eastern and southern Ukraine.
In February 2022, all of them supported the ratification of the ‘treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance’ between the aggressor state and the terrorist organizations ‘L/DNR’.
The officials also unanimously supported the russian president’s appeal to use the russian armed forces outside the country.
In this way, the senators contributed to the implementation of moscow’s plan to wage an aggressive war against Ukraine.
In October 2022, they ratified ‘agreements on accession’ of the temporarily occupied districts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions to russia.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified the russian senators of suspicion under the following Articles of the CCU:
- 110.3 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
- 27.5, 437.2 (planning, preparation, unleashing and waging of an aggressive war).
The suspects are facing up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The SSU carried out the pre-trial investigation under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
